Collaboration at Cambria
Collaboration at Clarkson – Article originally published in The West New Homes Plus – Saturday March 17.
Cambria is a thirteen unit architecturally designed apartment complex, ideally located on Celebration Boulevard in Clarkson. Only 300 meters to the train station, this was the perfect site to deliver Now Living’s latest Class 2 development.
Now Living Executive General Manager, Troy Gorton, believes this project clearly demonstrates Now Living’s growing capability in this space.
“Now Living is proud to demonstrate a strong capability in the Class 2 apartment space, and we see Cambria as our most innovative project to date, “ he said.
After an extensive tender process, Now Living selected MJA Studio as the architect to partner with on this project because of their vast experience in designing visually appealing and functional apartments, as well as their superior design vision for the site.
Director of MJA Studio, James Thompson, believes the success of the design was achieved through the collaboration between MJA Studio and Now Living.
“During this process we talked about how we could work collaboratively to deliver the best possible living environments for residents while maintaining an excellent level of affordability. Because of this close ongoing relationship we are able to achieve much greater levels of amenity for residents, especially their access to quality of space, light and ventilation which is so important for apartment living” he said.
Full height glazing to the balconies was included in the design to ensure a sense of space within the apartments was maximised. Internal courtyards and breezeways will also increase natural light and ventilation to the complex, which is a unique design element for apartments within the area.
Working with MJA Studio, Now Living has maximised the street frontage, as well as the north facing park aspect for this project.
“The majority of apartments have the ideal northern aspect and all of them are able to cross ventilate due to their dual-aspect design, these two design elements enable residents to reduce energy costs” said Mr Thompson.
Overall design of the elevation, reflects the costal lifestyle of the area and is encapsulated in the modern, unique design. Mr Gorton said this was an extremely important design consideration on this project.
“We wanted to contribute positively to the streetscape, through the incorporation of an attractive façade and detailing that reflects the coastal lifestyle of the area,” he said.
“The materiality of the project references Clarkson’s proximity to the coast with cool blue hues highlighting the strong white geometry and blonde bricks grounding the project to the street, “ says Mr Thompson.
With construction having commenced in January 2018, this exciting new project is well underway. For more information contact Now Living, 6464-5350 or visit www.nowliving.com.au.
